Dubai’s Mandatory Health Insurance Deadline Extended

The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) announced the extension of the deadline for residents to get health insurance. Due to the high influx of customers getting health insurance, the DHA has decided to extend the deadline for the compliance of their mandatory health insurance requirement, initially set for Dec 31st, 2016, allowing insurance companies to continue accepting insurance applications in 2017.

Although there’s a high influx of consumer demands for health insurance in the country, IPMI companies find entering the market in Dubai quite difficult, as the compliance and regulations of the DHA has been stricter and more specific. IPMI companies have struggled to offer plans that can fit the DHA’s requirements at a reasonable price range.

The Dubai Health Insurance Law, which came into effect in 2014 has been a great improvement when it comes to healthcare in Dubai.
