Allianz Global Assistance Launches Payment Card for Medical Claims in Canada

Allianz Global Assistance Canada partners PassportCard to introduce a payment card to customers, which can be used to settle medical claims. The card will be offered free of charge for selected travel insurance plans on a limited basis.

Eligible travellers who require medical assistance can simply call Allianz Global Assistance hotline to request for funds to be transferred to the card and a referral to the nearest medical facility. The outpatient bill is paid with the payment card, removing any out-of-pocket expenses, paperwork and waiting time that customers usually grapple with in the claim process.

"When setting out to extend the offering in North America, we were searching for the leading and most innovative market players. Allianz Global Assistance Canada's solid reputation for delivering top-notch travel insurance and assistance services made them an ideal choice as a partner. We were already familiar with Allianz Global Assistance's capabilities having partnered with their German Business Unit to offer PassportCard to travellers," said Sharon Haran, CEO of PassportCard.

Once the PassportCard program has proven successful, Allianz Global Assistance intends to make it available to its distribution partners on a broader scale. The travel insurance policies associated with the program are underwritten by the CUMIS General Insurance Company.
